What does sadness looks like?
Sometimes, it looks like straight faces and dull eyes.
But mostly it looks like laughing till your heart breaks and choking on your own words.
It looks like skipping your favourite songs.
It looks like dancing and swaying to a song you hate.
It looks like a shadowy place, glitzy lights and cheap beer.
It looks like a smile, a tear perfectly hidden.
Sometimes, sadness is too close to happiness to be noticed.
Mostly it is.

Handiedan’s art combines some leading visual motifs complex in terms of formal composition and female subjects looking like something in between an orientally adorned female falale from a noir film and a sexually joyful pin-up from the 1950′s calendar. The alchemy operates with a mastered collage technique.
